Jeremiah 10:13

When He utters His voice, There is a multitude of waters in the heavens: “And He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, He brings the wind out of His treasuries.”

In Jeremiah 10, we are reminded how the heavens and the earth were brought into orderly existence by the command of God’s voice. He was reminding the people of Judah that their God not only created the universe but that the same God sustains it.

Have you ever witnessed a tornado or some other type of natural disaster? Whether you have seen it in person or not, most people have seen it on TV. It’s almost unreal what rain, lightning & wind can do in such a short period of time. The aftermath can be devastating to individuals or even an entire community. Those are the times when you see humanity; for the most part; come together to show love and support. I believe this is just another example of how God controls the elements of the earth to humble us. The world is ever changing, but GOD IS UNCHANGING!

We see this scripture also in Psalm 135:6-7. The Psalmist praises the Lord who alone is the great, active and unchanging God!

Psalm 135:6-7

Whatever the Lord pleases He does, In heaven and in earth, In the seas and in all deep places.

He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; He makes lightning for the rain; He brings the wind out of His treasuries.

Aren’t you glad that no matter how much YOU change, God does not? No matter how many times we are shaken, God does not forsake us. AMEN! The Psalmist praised God because He had remained faithful since the beginning of time. Jeremiah reminded the people of Judah that He was still the same God that created the heavens and earth and He can speak forth His treasuries as He pleases; blessing those that stay faithful and unchanging in Him.

Malachi 3:6

“For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.”

In the beginning God spoke and all things were created. Soon after man changed but God remained the same. In all the years that have come after, not much has stayed the same for long. The world is ever evolving; changing as we go. God however does not change. He is always faithful, loving and omnipresent.

God's presence in things is His having power over them. God speaks and brings the wind out of His treasuries. God holds the treasuries; he sends it forth when he pleases, and it fulfills His will and His word.

Deuteronomy 28:12

The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.

This is another example in biblical times that God again showed that He will bring forth his good treasure. God gave graciously to the Israelites from the good treasure that He had stored up for them. Throughout the Bible and throughout time, God has continued to fulfill the promises He has given to us. From the beginning of time to the present day, all people have received God’s blessings solely because of HIS UNCHANGING GRACE.

1 John 2:17

And the world is passing away, and the lust of it;

but he who does the will of God abides forever.

The scripture from Jeremiah was speaking about false idols and how the Gentiles were worshiping handmade icons. He reminds them that God is not simply “better” than other gods, but that HE alone is the living GOD and he that does the will of God abides forever. God is not some handmade item or statue that you go to worship or pray to; GOD IS ALIVE! He is the living, unchanging GOD! We all can pray to and worship Him at any time.

In this scripture, John references how short life is. To be consumed with this life is to be unprepared for the next. What a tragedy to invest our resources in what will not last. I encourage you to examine your life and ask God to make known to you any idols or things that you may be “worshiping”. Ask the living God, to show you these things and ask through pray that they be removed from you. We can’t take any thing with us when we leave here, and God wants us to be prepared for the next “life”!

The country is starting to move into a “new normal” but God is still GOD! Be blessed this coming week and remember, that NO MATTER what happens, God doesn’t change even when everything else does.

Also, Happy Memorial Day! Please remember those that have went on to be with the Lord due to their service and love for our country.

AMEN!
