Psalm 50:14-15
14 Offer to God thanksgiving, And pay your vows to the Most High. 15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me."
God described what He wanted more than rituals of sacrifice. He wanted a thankful heart, a life of obedience, and a living trust in Him. This God rewards; to this He says, I will deliver you and you shall glorify Me.
God doesn't care about sacrifice or rituals because when we sacrifice to God, we don’t give Him something He doesn’t have; our sacrifice is for our sake and not His. Think of it this way; all sacrifices are God’s before they are offered, and do not become any more His by being offered. He neither needs nor can partake of material things. But when a man gives his own heart, this glorifies God because man is not His without their own surrender.
So when you call upon him in the day of trouble, and ask him to deliver you, there is meaning in anguish. God prefers the prayer of a broken heart to the finest service that ever was performed by priests and choirs.
Offer God your heart with thanksgiving in all seasons by living a life of obedience and putting all trust in Him. Shout to God in thanksgiving; offering praise and worship.
Be Blessed and remember as you spend time with family and friends in the coming week of Thanksgiving to always give thanks to the ONE who made it possible!
