Iron Sharpeneth Iron

Proverbs 27:17

Iron sharpeneth iron;

so a man sharpeneth

the countenance

of his friend.

This famous proverb illustrates both accountability and friendship. To sharpen a knife or iron blade we use another blade until both became more effective tools. The principle is the same for relationships. Left alone, both blades would be dull and quite useless. The same would apply to relationships in your life. If your closest relationships are not on the same course to know God, it can hurt your relationship with Him. God expects us to live and serve in a community of other believers and He desires for us to help build up those that might be in need.

We all need people who can help us rub off the hard edges and who honestly have our best interests in mind when they do it.

Prayer- God, thank you for my church family and Godly relationships that help me to grow in You. Please continue to give me the tools to sharpen my relationship with others so that we can serve You and others in need. Amen!
