Matthew 17:20
So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
Have you ever moved a mountain? I am sure the answer is no! Have you seen mountains move? Again, at first you are going to say no! But have you ever been up against something so big and so strong, you lost all faith? Most of us have at some point lost faith; in ourselves and in God. Sometimes we seek prayer from others or others may feel in their spirit that they need to pray for you and your mountain. Then what seems to be almost in that very moment, that mountain moves. A situation may have come against you and nothing seemed to be working no matter how hard you prayed. Then a prayer warrior commands the mountain to move, and it moves. Why? Because of FAITH! As the scripture says, if you have faith as a mustard seed, the mountain will move.
Sometimes we feel like we have prayed so much that we can no longer pray about the same situation or feel like God is just going to move in His time. Which is correct because God does work in His time, not ours. But… He is an ON TIME GOD and also a faithful God! If we pray and move on and don’t have faith in what we just prayed about, God may wait. However, if we have faith in whatever we are praying about and command the mountain to move and God sees our faith, prayers will be answered. All we need is a little faith!
Jesus was clear to his disciples that it was due to their unbelief that they were not able to cast out the demon. The disciples had the power to cast out the demon just as Jesus did, however they did not have the faith. The disciples still did not trust in their ability to move these mountains. We all must learn that we need to have complete trust in God and command with faith for the mountains to move. Some things require a stronger faith and prayer than others do. But no matter how big the mountain or how strong the demon, we have to demonstrate our faith in God that He will move the mountains in our lives. We must command those things; faith believing to ‘Move from here to there’!
If we believe we cannot do this, we must go to God and humble ourselves before Him. We must ask if there is something within ourselves that keeps us from having faith and trust in the Almighty God. Ask others to pray with you and for you during this time. Again, someone with a little (or a lot) of faith may command the mountain to move and because of that faith, the mountain will move.
A small amount of faith, as small as a mustard seed, can accomplish wonderful things. It’s not how big or small your faith is but what kind of faith you have. If you have a small amount of faith in God, nothing is impossible for you. However, always remember that a little faith can accomplish great things but a great faith can accomplish even greater things. Jesus used the mustard seed to show that kind of faith because the tiny seed grows into something much more. The little seed of Faith is meant to grow and keep growing and we should ask God for more faith! True faith grows when you let God do what He does best- the impossible.
To lack faith in God is simply not trusting Him to keep His promises or believing that He wants to bless us abundantly. We have to remember that God doesn’t do some things in order to protect us and He knows these things are not good for us. We have to remember that faith comes from hearing and believing the Word of God and the only way for it to grow is to USE IT!
The mustard seed is small, but just like any kind of seed, it’s meant to grow. The seed of Faith buries itself in the soil of God’s Word, takes root and keeps growing! Grow your faith in God! Quit trying to fix things that are broken and let God do it for you. Quit holding on to past mistakes and have faith in your present so you can fulfill those things God has called for you. Stop holding grudges, forgive as Jesus forgives and move on. Don’t worry about stepping out of your comfort zone if it’s meant to help others. If you feel God directing you, step out in Faith! God will be there to see you through it all! These things will be your testimony of how great God is when we show just a little faith in Him.
Give your struggles over to God and have Faith! When there is a mountain, command it to move and have true faith in God, that it will move!! Amen!
